Mixere - Mixere is a free, open-source application for mixing audio files. It runs on Windows NT/2000/XP, and supports WAV, AIFF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, and Mod audio files. Mixere is ideal for live performance, and especially for creating multi-layered sound collages. It's like a rack full of CD players connected to an automated mixer. Features include: dynamic looping and triggering of audio - automated volume, pan, and pitch sliders - soft (gradual) mute/solo operations - crossfading between documents - snapshots, for rapid scene changes - unlimited undo - clipboard support, drag and drop - variable automation waveforms - intuitive and easy to learn - comprehensive help - low CPU/memory usage - unlimited audio file size - no installer, standalone .EXE file. A Mixere document consists of a number of tracks, each containing a single audio file. Any number of tracks can play simultaneously, subject only to Windows and sound card performance limits. Audio is streamed directly from disk, so there's no limit on audio file size, and no waiting for audio to be loaded into memory. Mixere's interface is similar to a spreadsheet. The rows are tracks, and the columns are properties which can be adjusted for each track: name, transport (play/pause/stop/loop), mute/solo, volume, pan, pitch (two octaves), and audio position. Mixere doesn't record, but its output can be captured using a third-party audio capture tool, such as River Past Audio Capture (highly recommended!). Mixere doesn't use much CPU or memory, so it coexists peacefully with other audio applications. Mixere is licensed under the GPL, and uses an open-source audio library called Audiere. It's a standalone executable, so there's no installer. Try it! If you don't like it, just delete it.

I downloaded this software hoping to use it with WAV files but unfortunately it won't open them. So, for me, it's useless.

So far, it is exactly what I wanted! It is not an over the top all-the-bells-and-whistles kind of program, but that is not what I wanted. I wanted simple, intuitive, and this is what I got.

I really appreciate the opportunity to try out the free Mixere 1.0.82. However, it was apparent to me after downloading the product that it had capabilities far in excess of what I wanted.

I downloaded this program with a little hesitation, but that was unfounded - in truth this little program is amazing, and we dearly hope that the owner continues to work and perfect this product. As it is the software is very stable and you have in your hands a sound mixer of "limitless channels" - you can mix up to 100s of channels with this software - not only this but you can also control aspects such as Volume, Pitch, Time, repeat, etc, etc - very comprehensive.... just load up some drum loops, add a sample of your favourite guitar and you can produce some truly remarkable work... works with WAV and MP3 files.. perfect...

Wish I had more to say
But I can't seem to load .wav files, which basically leaves any music creation in the dust. Sorry.

Excellent Mixer Freeware
The program seems to work as promised, and is easy to use. Unfortunately, it doesn't do what I wanted, which was to mix the audio from a microphone input with the audio from a media player, so that I could play songs in a chat room while occasionally speaking over the music. Nothing wrong with the software, just not what I was looking for.

Manual beat sync?
Yep, I prefer a beat synch that can captcha the rhythm of the previoustrack without me manually clicking the pause and play button. Maybe it should be referred to as manual beat sync.

Easy to use. I try to find similar music to "hook" together for Video shows. Its a nice program for that purpose.
